In February, Telegraph.co.uk published a great article on American plus-size model Crystal Renn, who, after a brush with anorexia at 16 is now one of the most sought after plus-size models in the business - and she's not just getting the typical "plus-size" jobs, either, but is working for clients like "Dolce & Gabbana and Jean Paul Gaultier" ... "Saks Fifth Avenue... and Nine West, as well as numerous Vogue spreads to her name." She has also been selected as the new face for the "high-end British chain, Evans."
Renn also talks about how much better she feels now than when she was anorexic, and is speaking out about sizeism in the fashion world:
"How can you be happy if you're working out for five hours a day? People want to hire happy models. You need fat to think!" If that means cake, so be it. Alongside a healthy, largely organic diet, she doesn't worry about indulging herself. "I do what my body wants, and I don't care about gaining weight. I don't think about calories."
[...]
"We need different-size models. Bigger women need to not feel bad about their size. It's super-important to put that message across."
